Welcome to Sport at RVSSC
At RVSSC we provide our students access to opportunities within the sporting arena to develop the necessary skills and fitness to achieve their potential. Within our busy College sporting calendar, all students can access many opportunities to assist in their personal growth, experience and values as young athletes. Students can begin to specialise in their sporting experiences to enhance and facilitate pathway direction in future representative sport.

Sporting carnivals
The tradition of the inter-house sporting carnivals has been implemented into the school sporting program to further develop RVSSC's school culture. The College's four houses are 'Blaine" in blue, 'Flinders' in yellow, 'Goolman' in green and 'Perry' in red and each of the house names are based on mountains around Ipswich.
Each house will compete over our tradition of yearly carnivals of Swimming (Early Term 1 – not in 2022), Cross Country (Week 10, Term 1), and Track & Field (Week 10, Term 2). College house points and bragging rights are up for grabs, along with the opportunity for students to make individual selection for the College's District Representational Team.
Interschool sport
RVSSC is positioned in the Yagera School Sport District, which operates in Term 1 (summer season) and Term 3 (winter season). Yagera School Sport hosts a Gala Day format in which students who are selected to represent the college in a chosen sport will verse other schools in the district in a one-day competition only.
Games/Training are conducted on afternoons in which the coach will allocate when teams have been finalised. Additional training sessions may be conducted with coaches to help prepare students for their external weekly competitions. Success within our Interschool sport competition will allow our students to gain entrance into the Metro finals series where RVSSC will verse winners of other school sporting districts, which provides a deeper level of competition and potential success.
Representative sport opportunity
RVSSC is positioned in the Central Comets School Sporting District, which operates a full sporting calendar across a range of sporting opportunities. Building on from these opportunities students also have access to trial for Metropolitan-West Regional trials, which provides access to QLD and potential National school sporting competitions and squads.
