The school day at Ripley Valley State Secondary College begins with Access Class at 8.45am and concludes at 2.45pm after period 4.
Students are encouraged to arrive with enough time to be ready for Access Class and the start of learning each day.

Starting the day
Every school day begins with Access Class from 8.45am to 8.55am.
This short session provides students with a consistent start to the day before Period 1, to have roll call, and an opportunity to receive important College information.
Students should arrive on campus early enough to make their way to Access Class and be ready for the commencement of the school day.
Break times
Students have two scheduled breaks during the school day.
First Break
11.15am – 11.45am
Second Break
12.55pm – 1.35pm
During break times, students can access designated College recreation and social spaces and purchase food and drinks from the College Canteen.

Arriving late
We understand that sometimes arriving late is unavoidable.
If a student will arrive after the school day has commenced, parents and carers are asked to notify the College so we can ensure the student is accounted for.
When your student arrives
Students arriving late must sign in at Student Reception before going to class.
Parents and carers can notify the College using any of the following:
Phone: (07) 3819 5366
SMS: 0481 073 667
Email: administration@ripleyvalleyssc.eq.edu.au
Student diary: A written note can also be provided.
Once signed in, students can proceed to their scheduled class.
ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES
Leaving school early
We understand there may be occasions when a student needs to leave the College before 2.45pm for an appointment or another approved reason.
To help us locate students efficiently and minimise disruption to learning, parents and carers are asked to organise early departures in advance wherever possible.
1. Let us know before school
Students requiring an early departure should provide a note to Student Reception before 8.45am.
Alternatively, a parent or carer can notify the College:
Phone: (07) 3819 5366
SMS: 0481 073 667
Email: administration@ripleyvalleyssc.eq.edu.au
2. Collect an Exit Pass
Students should collect their Exit Pass from Student Reception during First or Second Break.
This allows the student to leave class at the arranged time without the College needing to interrupt learning to locate them.
3. Leaving the College
At the nominated departure time, students should:
- show their teacher their Exit Pass
- report to Student Reception
- sign out before leaving the College.
A parent or carer must attend Administration to collect the student.
4. Arriving without prior notice
If a parent or carer arrives without providing notice in advance, a Daymap message will be sent to the student and their teacher.
As students may be located anywhere across the College campus, including specialist learning spaces, this can mean additional waiting time while the student is located and released from class.
Providing notice in advance is therefore strongly encouraged wherever possible.
5. Pick-ups after 2.30pm
The College day concludes at 2.45pm.
To minimise disruption during the final stages of the school day, non-urgent early pick-ups after 2.30pm generally cannot be accommodated without prior notice.
For planned appointments requiring collection after 2.30pm, families should notify the College in advance and follow the standard early pick-up procedure.
We understand genuine family emergencies can occur at any time. If an urgent situation arises, please contact Administration while travelling to the
Getting to and from school
