A purpose built Library for a growing College
The Ripley Valley State Secondary College Library is a modern,
purpose built learning space designed to support students across Years 7 to 12.
As our College continues to grow, our Library is growing with it.
Students have access to an ever expanding collection of popular fiction and non fiction,
together with spaces and services that support reading, research, study and collaborative learning.
More than somewhere to borrow a book, the Library brings together resources,
learning opportunities and student services in one welcoming environment.
Whether students are discovering their next favourite book, researching an assessment,
studying independently, working with classmates or exploring future pathways,
the Library provides a place to read, learn, study and connect.
Built for learning
Our Library has been designed to support the different ways students learn.
It provides students with access to books and learning resources alongside spaces
for independent study, research and collaborative work.
Students can use the Library throughout their secondary schooling as their learning
needs develop, from building strong reading habits in the junior years through to
developing the independent research, organisation and study skills required in senior secondary.

Our growing collection
Our Library collection continues to grow alongside the Ripley Valley State Secondary College community.
Students can explore an expanding selection of
popular fiction and non fiction, providing opportunities to read for enjoyment,
discover new authors, investigate areas of interest and access resources that support their learning.
Building a strong and relevant collection is an ongoing priority, with the Library continuing
to develop as the needs and interests of our students grow.
Reading at RVSSC
Reading plays an important role in learning across every subject area,
but the Library also gives students the opportunity to read simply because they enjoy it.
Our growing collection provides students with access to different genres, ideas,
perspectives and areas of interest, helping students discover books they genuinely
want to read while developing confidence and lifelong reading habits.
Help grow our collection
As Ripley Valley State Secondary College continues to grow,
so too does our Library collection.
We welcome support from individuals, families, businesses and community organisations
who may be interested in donating suitable books to help expand the range available
to our students.
If you would like to discuss making a book donation, please contact College Administration
so our Library team can provide further information.
Study and learning
The Library provides students with a dedicated space to focus on their learning
outside the classroom.
Students can use the space for independent study, research, reading,
assessment and collaborative work.
For senior students, the Library provides an environment where they can continue
developing the independent learning, organisation and study habits required
throughout Years 10 to 12 and beyond secondary school.
Digital learning
As a 1:1 laptop College, digital learning forms an important part of the
Ripley Valley State Secondary College learning environment.
Students can use their College devices in the Library to access classroom resources,
online textbooks, learning platforms and digital research materials while working
independently or collaboratively.
Students are encouraged to arrive each day with their College device charged
and ready for learning.
Library programs
The Library supports a range of programs and activities for students throughout
the school year.
These programs provide additional opportunities for students to engage with reading,
learning and the Library community beyond their regular classroom activities.
Information about current Library programs and opportunities is communicated
to students as they become available.
Pathways in the Library
The College Pathways team is also located within the Library, making the space
an important connection point between learning at school and opportunities beyond it.
The Pathways team supports students to explore future education, training and
employment opportunities, including work experience, vocational education,
school based apprenticeships and traineeships.
The team can be found in the back right hand area of the student Library.

College Pathways team creates a visible connection between secondary learning,
future pathways and tertiary education.

More than a Library
The Ripley Valley State Secondary College Library continues to develop alongside
our growing College.
With an expanding collection, spaces for reading and study, printing and photocopying,
Library programs, the College Pathways team and a UniSQ presence, the Library brings
together a range of opportunities within one purpose built learning environment.
It is a space where students can discover something new, focus on their learning,
access support and begin thinking about where their education can take them next.
